Sean Nuzzo is the owner and Head Instructor of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu North Phoenix, bringing a wealth of experience and passion to the academy. Having dedicated 18 years to developing his Jiu-Jitsu and earning the rank of third-degree Black Belt under the legendary Megaton Dias, Sean’s Jiu-Jitsu lineage is rooted in tradition and excellence. As a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Certified Instructor, Sean is dedicated to upholding the standards and principles of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. He brings a unique perspective to Jiu-Jitsu, heavily emphasizing Self-Defense first, while drawing from his extensive Sport Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) background under Coral Belt Megaton Dias.
As a father of two boys, Sean understands the importance of discipline, respect, and perseverance, qualities he embodies by leading his students through example. Growing up, he actively participated in numerous sports, ultimately focusing on golf, where he played collegiately in the Pac-10 before transferring to Arizona and continuing his golf career at Grand Canyon University. After college, Sean enjoyed recreational sports until discovering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2007. He dedicated himself to the art, earning his Black Belt in just under seven years and competing in numerous tournaments throughout his colored belt journey.
Seeking new challenges, Sean moved to South America, where he continued to train and teach Jiu-Jitsu. After a period abroad, he returned to Arizona and decided to share his passion for Jiu-Jitsu by opening Gracie Jiu-Jitsu North Phoenix. Sean's commitment to excellence, combined with his passion for teaching, creates a supportive and empowering environment for students of all ages and skill levels.
